Mortal Music Inc was founded by musicians, who are in touch with musicians' needs. SOiL bassist Tim King and Twelfth Gate's Rob Such started Mortal Music with the intent of developing artists rather than trying to cash in on current trends or cycles.
"I miss the days when you could actually count on a band you liked to put out more than one or two albums before their career ended," states King. "Our whole philosophy with Mortal Music is to do things in a sensible and effective way to ensure that our bands have a career that can span 5 or more albums instead of the disposable heroes we see more and more every day."
The "artists developing artists" motto is the foundation of the label.
"We understand what works and what doesn't," adds Such. "So many labels don't understand the needs of the artist. These label people aren't out there on the street seeing first-hand what's going on. Our artists are, and so are we! We believe that understanding artists, while being artists ourselves, is what makes Mortal Music the right place to be".
